Mayra Barraza in the OC Register
Barraza, a native of El Salvador, has been honored for her work in Europe and in the United States, including a 2008 award from the Museum of Latin American Art. Her works have been displayed in Peru, France, Spain, New York and Puerto Rico. Works by artist Mayra Barraza are on display this month at saltfineart in Laguna Beach.
Saltfineart's exhibition, "Invisible Man," is the newest body of her work. The portraits are a tribute to Ralph Ellison's "Invisible Man," and, the gallery said, explore the realms of public and private identity.
The opening reception takes place Thursday, March 4 from 6-9 p.m. Hours are Wednesday-Sunday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and admission is free. The exhibit continues through March 28. For information, call 949-715-5554 or see saltfineart.com.
The gallery, dedicated to Latin American contemporary art, is at 1492 S. Pacific Coast Highway, Suite 3, Laguna Beach.
